Google Adds 3 New Career Certificates

Google Announces 100K Scholarships to Earn Certificate for High Paying, High-Demand Tech Jobs

Google announced the addition of three new Career Certificates to help people get credentialed for high-paying tech jobs. These high-growth career fields can help you work from home online without a University degree. Students who acquire these certifications may land jobs that earn a median salary of over $50,000 annually.

The new Grow with Google Career Certificates are for Data Analyst, Project Manager, and UX Designer. All of these jobs are in high-demand fields with projected shortages of qualified individuals. According to the company’s announcement, the median annual wage for Data Analyst is $66,000. For Project Manager and UX Designer, the median wages are $93,000 and $75,000 respectively.

The new programs add to certifications Google already offers in IT Support and Automation in Python Certificates offered via Coursera. The Google IT Certificate program was launched in 2018 and is the most popular certificate on Coursera. Over 50 employers like Intel, Hulu, Walmart, Hulu, Bank of America, Sprint, and obviously Google recognizes the Google IT Certificate program and hire employees who complete the coursework.

  • Data Analyst Job Description – Data analysts collect analyze and process data. They report their findings to management and project managers. Depending on their level of experience, the Data Analyst may also offer recommendations based on their findings. This is a common entry-level cyber security job.
  • Project Manager Job Description – Project Managers are responsible for overseeing projects and lines of business. They manage other workers, budgets, and liaison with customers.
  • UX Designer Job Description – The User Experience, or UX, Designer creates an interface for tech products like apps and websites to make the products is easy to use, enjoyable, and accessible for everyone. They may design the look and feel to make the product visually appealing.

Many of these jobs do not require the employee to travel to a workplace.

All of these education requirements can be completed online, at your own pace. The training takes about three to six months to complete and you don’t need any experience to get started. The courses will be administered on the Coursera online learning platform.

Google Training Scholarships

Google will also be offering 100,000 need-based scholarships to cover the costs of taking the training. The three new certifications have not been launched yet, so the tuition is not yet known.

Projected Tech Job Talent Shortage

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that 3.5 million cyber security jobs will go unfilled by the year 2024. This is because there is a lack of qualified individuals to fill these positions. New career opportunities for entry level jobs like IT support and Data Analyst all the way up to Director level positions have shortages.

Careers in cyber security are high paying compared to national averages. Obviously, the more certifications you earn the higher your salary is expected to be. A Lead Software Security Engineer earns an average of $233,333 per year.

The best part about getting started in a cyber security career, is that a University degree is not necessarily required. Online certifications and experience with computers including self-taught programming skills are acceptable for these lucrative career paths.
