Is the Photo Really Hidden on the iPhone?

How to Hide Photos in the iPhone Photos App
On an iPhone, you can hide photos, but it really doesn’t hide them or encrypt them, it just moves them to a hidden folder. So, it’s really just an organization tool that tidies up your photos and videos.
- Unlock your iPhone
- Open Photos
- Select the photo or video to hide
- To hide a photo, tap the box with an arrow in the bottom left on a photo
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select edit actions
- Under the photos section, tap the green plus sign that says Hide
- Once Hide has moved to the section at the top called Favorites, click done
- Once you are back on the screen from step 2, click Hide
- You can view the Hide folder on the Albums page, at the bottom under the other albums section
These newly hidden photos can now be found in the Hidden album instead of the photos folder.
Every photo that you hide appears in a not-so-secret album named Hidden. The Hidden media album can be found under the albums tab in the Photos app.
You cannot password protect the Hidden album, or even hide a photo using FaceID or Touch ID, or a passcode.
How to Unhide Photos on iPhone
- Open the Photos app
- Tap on the Albums tab
- Select the Hidden album
- Choose Select in the upper right corner
- Choose the photos you want to unhide
- Tap the Share button
- Along the bottom row of Share icons, select Unhide
Can You Lock Hidden Photos on The iPhone?
No. You cannot lock hidden photos on iPhone. They aren’t exactly protected or some sort of mystery because they’re stored in a folder called hidden. The hidden folder cannot be protected with a passcode pin or face ID that’s not really a very secure way to hide photos that you don’t want other people to see.
How Do You Hide A Hidden Album on iPhone?
Unfortunately, you cannot hide the Hidden album on an iPhone. So, this isn’t the best way to protect private photos or videos that you want to keep secret.
