How to Delete Apps Permanently on Phones – Disable or Delete Apps to Save Space by Getting Rid of Apps You No Longer

Permanently delete apps on android and iOS delete or disable apps to save space by getting rid of apps you no longer use. If you’re running out of storage on your phone you might need to delete apps from your phone to regain memory and storage space. With so many free available we end up with many that we never even open or use. often our phones storage is taken up my photos videos and tons of gains that we never really use.

Deleting apps that you don’t want anymore, helps secure your phone. There is no need to worry about updating unused apps with security patches. Often apps ask for intrusive permissions so developers can gather information about your location, shopping habits, and phone configuration and sell that information to advertisers.

Some of the most important apps that you can use to secure your phone include using a virtual private network (VPN) and a password vault. Both of these apps help protect phone from being hacked or if it is lost or stolen. But you might not have enough space left to use install important security apps. Buying a new phone with more storage space lets you take advantage of the latest security features including biometric login features like fingerprint scans and facial recognition.

Videos and photos can be backed up to cloud storage to make room for apps that you actually want and use including important security apps needed to protect phones from hackers.

How Do I Delete Apps That I Don’t Want on My Phone?

To delete apps on your phone you’ll have to clear all memory used by the app and then uninstall the app completely from your device. On Android phones, this requires a few steps ,including stopping the app, clearing the cache, and clearing memory used by the app, before uninstalling it. Otherwise an uninstalled app may still be using up valuable storage space for old data.

To delete iPhone apps, you can completely remove them right from any iPhone screen without having to take the extra steps to clear out old data first.

How Do I Delete Apps and Uninstall

If want to delete apps from an iPhone JUMP to this section

  1. Tap the Settings icon on your Android Phone
  2. Scroll down the list and tap Apps
  3. Scroll down the list of installed apps and find the app that you want to delete
  4. Tap the app name
  5. Tap UNINSTALL

If you want to delete an app the best way possible for your phone, first clear the cache and clear the data before stopping the app and deleting it. After you find the app name in the list, tap clear cache and then . You’ll have to have to back up one screen and then delete the app. When you clear any memory used by the unwanted app, you’ll get rid of any storage space used up by the app and free up more space for photos, videos, for future apps.

Why Can’t I Delete Apps?

If you find you cannot uninstall apps this may be because your phone came with preinstalled apps from the device manufacturer or your wireless provider. For example, my Samsung phone has Samsung Health fitness monitor preinstalled and Verizon Wireless account management software. It also has the Amazon shopping app, Office Editor, and Google Play Moves. I don’t want these apps, but my Android phone does not give me the option to delete them. The uninstall button is nonexistent.

These apps affectionately known as bloatware because they are often unwanted, use up storage space, and sometimes use background data. Although these apps cannot be uninstalled unless you root your phone you can clear the memory and disable them. Buying a new phone may mean a new set of bloatware apps.

Sometimes it’s not possible to delete apps because they are required by the phone’s operating system. There keys to delete these apps may be greyed out or not present on the keypad leaving no option to delete them. The only way to delete apps that are blocked from removal, by rooting your Android phone or jailbreaking your iPhone. People install rootkits on an Android phone or jailbreak their iPhone so they can have more control over the software installed on their phones.

When you root an Android phone or jailbreak an iPhone you circumvent the phone’s operating system and security measures. Users do this so they can install other apps that are otherwise blocked by security measures in the Google Play or the Apple store. They root and jailbreak phones to remove bloatware or install their own operating system. Unless you really know what you’re doing with your phone, you should never root or jailbreak a phone. It voids the warranty and can present security vulnerabilities.

If you do jailbreak your phone or install a rootkit then consider getting a good antivirus app and protection against hacking.

How to Disable Apps

  1. Tap the Settings icon on your Android phone screen
  2. Scroll down the menu
  3. Tap Apps
  4. Scroll down the list of app names to find the app that you want to delete
  5. Select the app
  6. Tap Storage
  7. Tap CLEAR DATA
  8. Next, tap CLEAR CACHE
  9. Back up one screen and tap FORCE STOP
  10. Tap DISABLE

How Can I Delete Apps on an iPhone?

To delete apps off of an iPhone, located the app on any screen and follow the instructions below. This was tested on iPhone XR running iOS 13.3. You’ll need to log into your Phone with biometric login either facial recognition or fingerprint scan.

  1. Tap and hold the app icon until it starts to shake. A letter X will appear in the upper left corner of the app icon
  2. Tap the X
  3. Tap Delete

How to Completely Delete Apps from Android Phones

To delete apps that you don’t intend to reinstall you should clear the data and storage used by the app to free up more space. This ensures that space on your phone is freed up for other apps, videos, or images. If you’re just deleting the app temporarily then you can probably skip this step.

  1. Tap the Settings icon on your Android Phone
  2. Scroll down the list and tap Apps
  3. Scroll down the list of installed apps and find the app that you want to delete
  4. Tap the app name
  5. Tap Storage and tap CLEAR DATA
  6. Then tap CLEAR CACHE
  7. Back up one screen and tap UNINSTALL

Repeat these steps for each when you delete apps.

  1. Login into your iPhone
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap iCloud
  4. Tap Storage
  5. Select Manage Storage
  6. Under Backups, select your iPhone
  7. Choose the app to delete data from iCloud
