The office of Information Technology provides necessary networking, systems administration and customer-focused services to enable the efficient, cost-effective use of communications and computing technologies by The College of New Jersey faculty, staff and students. Information Technology/ Networking and Technical Services provide campus-wide support of administrative and academic computing applications and services.

Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, the Information Security Analyst will be responsible for assisting with daily security operations, implementing new cybersecurity projects, and support for the College’s Information Security program.

Duties include:

  • Identify vulnerabilities that may cause inappropriate or accidental access, disclosure, modification, or destruction of information; establish controls to eliminate or minimize their potential effects.
  • Collaborate with other areas of IT to suggest and implement technologies to secure the computing environment.
  • Monitor and secure the campus network and servers. Ensure College systems are properly secured and in compliance with best practices and government regulations.
  • Maintain, review, and administer network firewalls and their rulesets.
  • Respond to cybersecurity incidents.
  • Communicate and educate the campus community about cybersecurity issues and best practices.
  • Monitor relevant security discussion lists and websites to keep abreast of security concerns that may affect the campus.
  • Establish liaison and coordinate activities with other staff or organizations that relate to or impact assigned responsibilities.
  • Consult with the supervisor concerning problems encountered in the work; makes recommendations for resolution.
  • Compile and analyze statistical, financial and other data.
  • Prepare clear, technically sound, accurate and informative reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Assist with with account provisioning and identity management.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience with:

    • Secure network design concepts
    • Endpoint security solutions
    • Vulnerability management tools
    • Security Information and Event Management systems
    • Digital Forensics
    • Network firewalls
    • Linux and Windows administration
    • Scripting/programing in Python, Perl, etc

    The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree.
