How to Lock a Netflix Profile with a PIN Passcode, Block Mature Content or Disable Auto Play

Lock Netflix profiles with a PIN to lock any profile on your account out of Netflix.

New Netflix account controls which are intended to be parental controls let you control the maturity level of what content other profiles on your account can access. You can also lock other profiles with a PIN passcode.

How to Lock a Netflix Profile with a PIN

The account owner can set a PIN passcode for any profile on the account. The profile owner will then need to use the PIN to watch Netflix. So, this effectively locks them out of the account. This new feature is easy to set and allows anyone with an adult profile to lock another profile.

  1. Log into Netflix.com in a web browser
  2. Log into the account owner’s profile or use any profile that’s not designated as a child’s profile
  3. Drop down the menu in the upper right corner, choose Account
  4. In the window, scroll down to the Profile & Parental Controls section
  5. Drop down the arrow next the profile name to lock
  6. Select Change under the Profile Lock section
  7. Enter your password to continue
  8. Check the box next to Require a PIN to access [profile name] profile.
  9. Enter the PIN code
  10. Choose Save

How to Lock a Netflix Profile with a PIN

A parent, or account owner, can limit which titles other profiles on the account can watch by maturity rating. If you want to stop your children from watching mature content, this can be set here. The maturity rating is determined by your country’s standards.

  1. Log into Netflix.com in a web browser
  2. Log into the account owner’s profile or use any profile that’s not designated as a child’s profile
  3. Drop down the menu in the upper right corner, choose Account
  4. In the window, scroll down to the Profile & Parental Controls section
  5. Drop down the arrow next the profile name to lock
  6. Select Change under the Viewing Restrictions section
  7.  
  8. Enter your password to continue
  9. Choose the maturity rating
  10. Choose Save

This is also the section to add content restrictions. Admin users can also block a specific title from kid’s profiles. For example, if you don’t want your kids watching Derek dramatically die is season 6 of Grey’s Anatomy for the tenth time, you can block them from watching it.
Also, the admin user (parent) can also disable auto-play on any profile.
