How Do I Protect My Hulu Account?

2019-12-12 by Michelle Dvorak

Protect Hulu Account

Protect Your Hulu Account from Hackers and Unwanted Hulu Users Who May Be logged Using Your Profile and You Want to Remove Them from the Account

Fans of streaming video have to protect their Hulu account from unauthorized users by checking account settings frequently. Profile login credentials are sold on the dark web so buyers can access Hulu for cheap. Andy’s iPhone is a common profile name seen on hacked Hulu accounts. But not all users that need to be kicked off Hulu are hackers. Users can log into their Hulu at hotels but may forget to log out before they check out of the hotel. Sometimes they watch films with a friend at their home but later need to remove the friend from the account.

The biggest red flag that your Hulu account is being used by someone else is when a new profile appears on the account tab.

If you subscribe to Hulu or even if you receive it for free because of another paid subscription like Spotify, you’ll want to protect your Hulu account from unauthorized or unwanted users.

One of the best ways to protect any online account is to set a strong and unique password.

Use A Unique Password

Use a unique password for your Hulu and each online account you have. This includes social media accounts. Many people reuse the same username and password across multiple online accounts. That means if a hacker gets into your Hulu account and steals your email address, username, or password, they may gain access to other more valuable account. For example, if you use the same email address and password for your bank account or credit card and a hacker gets into your Hulu account, they may use that information to steal your money or reset a password for financial accounts.

Hotels have Hulu and Netflix apps downloaded to their smart TVs so guests can stream videos using their own accounts. It’s best not to login over Hotel WiFi because it’s not secure. Using VPN and watching from your own phone or tablet is more secure. But if you do use the hotel TV with your Hulu, make sure you log out of your Hulu account on all devices. When you get home or unsecured Wi-Fi change your password on Hulu.

Disconnect from Facebook

There is no reason to connect Facebook with your Hulu. Hulu will receive your name and profile picture, Page likes, and email address from Facebook. However, Hulu won’t be able to post to Facebook. Connecting the two apps gives Hulu unnecessary access to your Facebook information. If one of the apps is hacked, the other is vulnerable as well. Hackers could get all of your friend’s contact information.

Create Profiles for Everyone on the Hulu Account

if you share one Hulu account with your family and friends, your viewing habits will be available to anyone else using it. Their viewing history will affect your content recommendations.
Keep your viewing habits private by adding user profiles for those you share your account with.
