Disable Allow Sites to Check if You Have Payment Methods Saved Chrome
Google has a feature that can help Chrome users save time when shopping online. Google Chrome can fill in forms automatically with saved payment methods and addresses. When you enter payment methods or new addresses in an online form, Chrome may prompt you to save it. The saved payment information in Chrome can be accessed by other websites when shopping online using the Chrome web browser. It’s true it is convenient to not have to enter credit or debit card details each time you make an online purchase. However, it poses a security risk for your banking information.
Payment methods saved in Chrome create a cyber security risk because it is possible that this information may be accessed by someone who shares your computer or uses your phone. Remember that Chrome can save autofill information like addresses as well as payment information across devices. If you pay online using your phone then log into the same Google account on a laptop, the payment methods are available in that instance of Chrome too. That means your payment information like credit cards, debit cards, and payment apps are available on your phone, tablet, or computer through all Google apps such as Google Pay, the Play Store, YouTube, and Chrome no matter what device you use. If you lend your computer to someone else, the Payment data is saved.

You should never shop online from a public computer, like in a library. You should also never shop online over public WiFi, like in coffee shops or hotels.
Consider disabling “Allow sites to check if you have payment methods saved.” The best way to protect against your credit card, debit card, or payment app credentials from being used by someone else is to unlink payment methods from Google. This includes all Google apps including Chrome – desktop and mobile, Google Pay, and Google Play.
